At Designer Doodles by Kim, we understand how important your furry family member is to you. That’s why we offer a unique dog boarding experience to our customers who got a dog from us where your pet stays in a real home, surrounded by love and constant care. Unlike traditional dog kennels, your dog will enjoy life as part of our family, just four doors down from our house, with my daughter Rhonda and her children; 8, and 15 that help with raising all of our litters before they go to their forever homes. Our puppies are already familiar with Rhonda and her children. And they’re big sister or big cousin Alpha lives in that home already.

Health & Safety Policies

At Designer Doodles by Kim, the health and safety of your dog are our top priority. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all pets in our care, we have a few important policies regarding your dog’s health and emergency protocols.

Health Requirements Before Boarding

All dogs must be in good health when they arrive for their stay. We require that your dog:

• Must not have a fever: Upon arrival, we will check your dog’s temperature to ensure they are not sick. This precaution helps protect all dogs in our care. We will also perform periodic temperature checks during their stay to monitor for any changes.
• No contagious illnesses: If your dog shows any signs of illness, including fever, cough, or unusual behavior, they will not be allowed to board. This is to protect the health of other dogs in our care. Including mites, fleas, ticks or lice.

Emergency Vet Care and Waiver

In the unlikely event that your dog becomes ill or requires medical attention during their stay, we will take them to their regular veterinarian, as long as their office is within a 20-mile radius of DeSoto, Iowa. A small trip charge will apply, and you will be responsible for covering all veterinary costs related to the care your dog receives. If it was for an emergency life or death situation we would opt to transport the dog to the closest emergency vet there will also be a trip fee for this emergency vet visit.

By boarding your dog with us, you agree to sign a waiver of liability, acknowledging that while we will take every precaution to care for your pet, accidents or unexpected health issues can occur. This waiver also authorizes us to seek veterinary care if needed, ensuring your pet’s well-being during their stay.

Unspayed and Unneutered Dogs

At Designer Doodles by Kim, we understand that not all dogs are spayed or neutered, and we are happy to accommodate them in our boarding service. We kindly ask that you fully disclose if your dog is unspayed or unneutered when booking their stay.

This information helps us ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all pets in our care, allowing us to make any necessary arrangements during their time with us. Rest assured, your dog will receive the same level of attention, love, and care regardless of their spayed or neutered status.

Behavior Assessment for Group Play

At Designer Doodles by Kim, the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care is our top priority. To ensure a positive experience for every dog, all dogs must pass a general behavior assessment before participating in dog-to-dog group play. This helps us determine if your dog is well-suited for group interaction and can engage safely with other dogs.

Any dog that shows signs of aggression or disruptive behavior will not be admitted to group play. This policy ensures a safe, fun, and stress-free environment for all the dogs during their stay with us.

Bathing Policy

At Designer Doodles by Kim, we want to keep your dog as comfortable and clean as possible during their stay. If your dog soils their fur while in our care, we will bathe them to ensure they stay fresh and happy. A bathing fee will apply, and the cost will be covered by the owner.

Billing Policy

At Designer Doodles by Kim, our overnight boarding service operates on a 24-hour billing cycle. Please be aware that during holidays, there is a two-night minimum requirement for all bookings.

Cancellation Policy

We also have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel your reservation, it must be done at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 48 hours will still be billed for the minimum one-night (*two-night minimum during holidays), as our space is limited and availability is highly sought after, especially during busy times.

Availability

Since we offer in-home boarding, we are only able to accommodate a few dogs at a time, which means our availability fills up quickly. We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure your spot and avoid disappointment during peak periods.

Doggie Daycare for Local Clients

In addition to our boarding services, Designer Doodles by Kim also offers Doggie Daycare for local clients. Whether you have a busy day ahead or simply want your dog to enjoy some fun and socialization while you’re at work, our daycare service provides a safe, engaging environment where your dog can spend the day with us.

Your dog will have plenty of playtime, interaction with our family, and the comfort of a home setting—not a kennel or crate. Drop them off for the day and know they’ll be well cared for, happy, and tired out by the time you pick them up!
