Doodles in the Midwest
Our Breeding Program
At Designer Doodles by Kim, we specialize in breeding exceptional Sheepadoodles in a wide range of sizes, coat types, colors, and rare features. Our program includes micro, mini, and standard Sheepadoodles, giving families options that fit their lifestyle and space.
Sheepadoodle Variaties We Offer
A “Sheepadoodle” is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog (OES) and a poodle. There can be tons of variations depending on what type of poodle used. There are also “double doodles”. We produce everything from traditional black and white Sheepadoodles to parti, tri-color, and merle coats, including our highly sought-after blue-eyed designer doodles. We are also known for breeding tri-color Sheepadoodles that resemble Bernedoodles, combining that signature look with the temperament and consistency of a Sheepadoodle. With a focus on coat textures (wavy, curly, fleece), eye color variations, and unique markings, every litter is intentionally planned to offer both beauty and balance in structure, health, and personality. Sheepadoodle Sizes: Micro, Mini & Standard
We offer a range of Sheepadoodle sizes so you can find the perfect fit for your home, lifestyle, and preferences:
Micro Sheepadoodles
Typically 10–25 lbs full grown
Ideal for smaller homes, apartments, or families wanting a more compact, easy-to-manage companion.
Mini Sheepadoodles
Typically 25–45 lbs full grown
A popular middle ground—still manageable in size, but with a sturdy build and playful energy.
Standard Sheepadoodles
Typically 45–80+ lbs full grown
Perfect for families wanting a larger dog with that classic, full Sheepadoodle look and presence.
Keep in Mind
Size can vary depending on genetics, pairing, and generation, but we carefully plan each litter to stay within expected ranges and will always guide you on what to expect from your specific puppy.
Coat Types & Textures
Not all Sheepadoodles have the same coat, and we intentionally produce a variety to suit different preferences:
- Wavy coats – Soft, natural, and easier to maintain
- Curly coats – Tighter curls with more allergy-friendly qualities, require more grooming to prevent matting
- Fleece coats – The most sought-after, plush, teddy bear texture
We help guide families in choosing the right coat based on grooming expectations and lifestyle.
Sheepadoodle Colors & Markings
Our program is known for producing a wide range of beautiful Sheepadoodle colors, markings, and coat patterns, from the traditional black and white Sheepadoodle look to rare designer colors like blue merle, chocolate and white, phantom, brindle, and grizzle. Because Sheepadoodle coats can change as they mature, we also help families understand what markings may stay the same and what colors may fade, lighten, or shift over time.
Primary & Common Sheepadoodle Colors
These are the most recognized Sheepadoodle colors and the ones families most often associate with the traditional Sheepadoodle look:
Black & White Parti Sheepadoodles
Black and white is the classic Sheepadoodle color combination. Many black and white Sheepadoodles have a parti pattern, meaning they are at least 50% white with large patches of black. This gives them that bold, high-contrast “panda bear” appearance families love, with white often covering the head, chest, paws, and body.
Black Tuxedo Sheepadoodles
A black tuxedo Sheepadoodle typically has a mostly black body with white markings on the chest, chin, paws, or face. This pattern gives the puppy a polished, dressed-up look while still keeping that classic Sheepadoodle appearance.
Solid Black Sheepadoodles
Solid black Sheepadoodles have a sleek, rich coat with little to no white markings. Some may stay dark, while others may lighten over time depending on whether they carry fading genetics.
Gray & White Sheepadoodles
Gray and white Sheepadoodles often begin life as black and white puppies and gradually fade into gray, blue, silver, or charcoal tones as they mature. This color change is common in lines that carry the progressive graying gene.
Rare & Uncommon Sheepadoodle Colors
In addition to traditional colors, Designer Doodles by Kim is known for producing rare and highly sought-after designer Sheepadoodle colors.
Merle Sheepadoodles
Merle Sheepadoodles often be a marbles or speckled patterns but is usually only blue or red merle colors. We re known for our blue merle designer doodles that have a marbled pattern of gray, black, silver, and sometimes white. This is one of the most eye-catching coat patterns and is often paired with striking blue eyes or parti-colored eyes.
Chocolate/Brown & White Sheepadoodles
Chocolate or brown and white Sheepadoodles have warm, rich coloring that creates a softer look than traditional black and white. These puppies may have parti, abstract, tuxedo, or other white markings depending on their genetics.
Red & White Sheepadoodles
Red and white Sheepadoodles are less common and stand out for their warm, bold coloring. Their coats may include white markings on the chest, face, paws, or body.
Apricot Sheepadoodles
Apricot Sheepadoodles have a soft peachy-gold tone that gives them a warm teddy bear look. Apricot coats can vary from light cream-gold to deeper peach tones.
Cream Sheepadoodles
Cream Sheepadoodles have a soft, light coat that can range from ivory to pale champagne. This color gives a gentle, elegant look and may appear solid or paired with subtle markings.
Solid White Sheepadoodles
Solid white Sheepadoodles are uncommon and have a clean, bright coat. Depending on coat texture, they can have a very plush, teddy bear appearance. Often are solid whites have stricking blue eyes.
Phantom Sheepadoodles
Phantom Sheepadoodles have a darker base color with lighter tan, brown, cream, or silver points. These markings often appear on the eyebrows, muzzle, chest, legs, and under the tail. Think of the dots on herd protecting breeds brow that trick the preditors into thinking they are awake if they are not.
Brindle Sheepadoodles
Brindle Sheepadoodles have a striped or tiger-like pattern mixed through the coat. This can create a very unique look, especially when combined with white markings.
Grizzle Sheepadoodles
Grizzle is a less common pattern where lighter and darker hairs blend together, giving the coat a textured, shaded appearance. It can create a soft, dimensional look that changes as the puppy matures.
Sheepadoodle Coat Color Patterns Explained
Color is only one part of a Sheepadoodle’s appearance. The pattern describes how those colors are placed across the coat.
Parti Sheepadoodles
Parti means the coat is at least 50% white with large patches of another color, such as black, gray, brown, red, or merle. Parti Sheepadoodles are often known for their adorable “panda bear” appearance.
Tuxedo Sheepadoodles
Tuxedo Sheepadoodles usually have a solid-colored body with white on the chest, chin, paws, and sometimes the face. The white markings make the puppy look like it is wearing a little tuxedo.
Abstract Sheepadoodles
Abstract Sheepadoodles have a mostly solid-colored body with smaller white markings. These markings may appear on the chest, paws, chin, forehead, or face, but they do not cover as much of the body as a parti pattern.
Tri-Color Sheepadoodles
Tri-color Sheepadoodles have a rare combination of three colors, often black, white, and brown or tan. These are the Sheepadoodles that can resemble Bernedoodles, especially when the brown/tan points appear around the eyebrows, cheeks, legs, and chest.
Important Note on Sheepadoodle Coat Fading
Many Sheepadoodles are born black and white but change significantly as they mature. In some puppies, the black hair may fade into gray, blue, charcoal, or silver as they reach adulthood. This fading often begins around 8–9 months of age and can continue as the adult coat comes in.
This color change is connected to the progressive graying gene (G locus). A Sheepadoodle must inherit this gene from at least one parent in order to fade. Puppies that do not carry this gene are more likely to keep their darker coloring, while puppies that do carry it may lighten dramatically over time.
That means a black and white Sheepadoodle puppy may grow into a gray and white or silver-toned adult, while another puppy from the same litter may stay much darker. This is part of what makes each Sheepadoodle unique.
Temperament & Personality
Temperament is one of the most important parts of our breeding program.
Our Sheepadoodles are known for being:
- Intelligent and highly trainable
- Loyal and family-oriented
- Playful, social, and affectionate
- Well-balanced in energy and personality
We carefully select our sires and dams based on temperament to ensure our puppies grow into confident, loving companions.
Raised in Our Home, Not a Kennel
What truly sets Designer Doodles by Kim apart is how our puppies are raised.
Every puppy is:
- Raised inside our home
- Exposed to everyday household sounds and activity
- Handled daily with love and care
- Socialized from birth
This creates puppies that are:
- More confident
- Better adjusted
- Easier to transition into their new homes
They are not just bred here—they are loved here first.
Our Commitment to Health & Quality
We take pride in breeding responsibly and intentionally.
Our program focuses on:
- Carefully selected pairings
- Strong genetics and structure
- Healthy, thriving puppies
- Long-term success for both puppy and family
We are committed to producing puppies that are not only beautiful, but built for a lifetime of companionship. Our diverse genetic pools mean healthier dogs than a “pure” breed. A lot of people don’t realize a “mutt” has a lot less health issues because they have more genetic diversity.
